vegan garlic bread
Hey, everyone. First, I must apologize for the duplication of information today. I posted this recipe back in early September. However, it was presented as more of an afterthought than an amazing recipe in its own right. Really, it's a staple in our household, so I feel it's worth giving its own spot. We make vegan garlic bread whenever we eat soup. It's an excellent compliment to a meal, but also a fantastic food to serve at gatherings.
The crustier, grainier the bread, the better. And, if you want to get adventurous and feel even more satisfied, why not make Spelt Bread . . . and THEN follow this recipe?
VEGAN GARLIC BREAD
What you'll need . . .
- Half a loaf of multi-grain or organic wheat bread (again, the grainier the better)
-
1/4 cup Earth Balance (or your favorite butter substitute)
- 2 large cloves of garlic (minced)
Method . . .
1.) Preheat the oven -- 375 degrees F (pref. with a pizza stone inside)
2.) Cut medium-thin slices of bread and set aside
3.) Mash garlic and soy margarine in a small dish with a fork until fluffy
3.) Spread generous portions of mixture onto sliced bread and put on a baking pan (or place bread on warm pizza stone)
4.) Bake for 8 or so minutes (depending on your desired level of crispiness)
What's all this for?
My husband's super baked seitan recipe! I'll be sharing it tomorrow -- so keep an eye out! And if you haven't already, check out back posts of METHOD. I've been writing about vegetarian and vegan food all along, not just for VeganMoFo. Which, by the way, the vegan garlic bread recipe is a part of.
Happy Thursday, all you VeganMoFo-ers. For more delicious vegan recipes -- including sweets, soups, and other scrumptious things -- keep reading METHOD (subscribe to the RSS feed). As well, check out the VeganMoFo Flickr group.
